The Byzan calendar has 12 cycles (months) of 28 days each, making a solar Byzan year 336 days long. Unlike the Morturii calendar, the Byzan new year begins in Spring. The time between the beginning of Widdo (winter) and the first day of Mitha (spring) is considered to be a perilous time of portents and omens, when the barrier between life and the Overworld is thin, and when the gods are not present. Journeys are delayed or cancelled and old debts are settled, as well as peace made between enemies. The festival of Ember occurs during the Wilding month, during which time some Hilurin's may experience a temporary, ecstatic euphoria and loss of inhibitions experienced that can last anywhere from a day to several weeks. Ember occurs some 30 days after Mitha begins, Not all Hilurin are affected by the Wilding, and the phenomenon seems to be associated with the elongated orbit of the moon during this phase. The birthday of the Flower Prince - whenever he is born - is celebrated on the fourth day of the month of Stars. All crops must be harvested before the last day of the month of Ashes, or burned as an offering to the Goddess Deva.

The months are:

Kings
The Wilding
Dreams
Stars
Courts
Palaces
Gods
Graves
